PROS:
The 5530 is powered by AMD’s powerful dual core processors, allowing any businessperson to carry out several tasks at the same time. The AMD X2s, which in actuality are four-out two-in processors, performs almost at par with Intel’s dual core chips. Thus, one can expect the same execution from the 5530 in terms of processing power. Complementing this prowess is a large cache of RAM at 4 GB.
Another good thing about the Acer Travelmate 5530 is its lightness, as it weighs less than 7 pounds. Despite being lightweight, the 5530’s chassis has anti-shock properties that absorb impact from hard fall. Aside from that, the 5530 is loaded with the Disc Anti-Shock Protection system that neglects damage to the notebook’s hard drive. The DASP automatically shuts down the hard drive before the 5530 hits a surface and protects the stored files from damages.
The 5530’s 14-inch display carries a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800, which allows minimized file windows to be placed side by side when the user is in multi-tasking mode.
CONS:
The main drawback of the 5530 is its limited battery time. Acer puts the optimal battery life of the Acer 5530 at two and a half hours. The 5530 also may not last for four hours even when using the minimum power setting.
The 5530 also lacks support from a dedicated graphic card. A business user who has to deal with 3D graphics may find the 5530 not capable of handling rich details since this laptop only has integrated graphics card installed.
CONCLUSION:
The Acer TravelMate 5530 is a good laptop for business use, given its processing power and memory support. Although its low battery life may discourage heavy users, business people who uses laptop only when traveling for a short period of time or attending a meeting. Entrepreneurs who prefer using a laptop as a desktop replacement might find the 5530 not a good investment.
The 5530 may also be turn off for those who mixes business with pleasure. For entrepreneurs who use laptop for serious work, however, the 5530 is a good choice.
